This week I’m working on hand stitching the binding to a baby quilt for some friends of ours. The hand stitching isn’t my favorite part of finishing a quilt, but I always find it looks so much better that way than it does if I use my machine to stitch it more quickly.

This week I’ve got a work of art to share! It hangs on the wall in my dining room, and it was a hand-painted original made by three of the cutest little artists around: my children! The kids painted the background in an abstract style, and then we painted their hands with gold and had them print them to the center of the canvas. We made one of these as a Father’s Day gift for my husband, and it hangs in his office. It’s a great way for children even as young as 2 to get involved in making gifts for loved ones.

This week I’m working on a knitted top. The top begins with alternating rows of various mini skeins of colorful yarn, which makes it a great way to use up left-overs. Now I’m working the body in the round, a seemingly endless progression of stitches from here to the hem!
