Recently my daughter asked me to make her a pouch to carry her colored pencils. She loves to draw, and she carts her pencils all over town. Sometimes they get lost or broken, so we tried to come up with a solution to both of those problems.
I made her a basic zippered pouch, large enough to carry her full pencil collection now plus any she might add to it in the future, and a small notebook. I quilted the outer layers of fabric to add a little cushion to protect the pencils, and I used a cat print that she loves. At her request I lined it with pink and added a bow, and it was my idea to add the wrist strap for easy carrying. All in all it came together quickly and works great:
