Welcome to #MakersWednesday, the time for grown-up Show & Tell!
Sometimes I think that as crafters, we put our intentions into our creations. We knit sweaters to prepare for winter’s chill, and we sew baby quilts so we can wrap them in all our hopes and dreams for their futures.
Right now, I feel like I’m kind of balancing my love of winter (cozying up in front of a fire, staying inside with a hot cup of tea, and snuggling up in warm quilts and sweaters) with my love of spring (new beginnings, bright colors, the return of the sunshine, gorgeous flowers) in my knitting.
I currently have two main projects on my needles –
and Nurmilintu Shawl –
So with the first, I’m still hanging on to the last of winter – a cozy wool sweater in a bright gold to lighten dreary, chilly days. It has all my favorite qualities – buttons, pockets, and a hood – and it’s made of cozy sheep’s wool to keep out the wet & cold.
With the second, I’m welcoming spring – a lightweight shawl in a pastel palette, perfect for pairing with my upcoming wardrobe of spring dresses, tanks, and tees.
I guess I’m knitting through the transition, in a way. Preparing myself for what’s to come, yet also remaining true to current seasons.
