Happy #MakersWednesday – it’s my favorite day of the week!
This week I’m sharing some of the inexpensive ways I’ve been sprucing up our home decor, starting with my kids’ bedrooms.
First up, I followed the basic idea behind this tutorial and made a decoration for my daughter’s wall. I used felt instead of paper, and we cut the shapes to be stars and cat heads. We hung them from a dowel rod, and now I just want to finish it off with some washi tape and maybe some finials. But here’s the felt all laid out:
Next up, I took the felt concept one step further and made a Lego garland for the boys’ room. I cut a Lego head using a template I found online, and used faces from Pinterest to inspire my drawings (which I made using a regular Sharpie marker). Then I cut squares out of red, blue, and green felt and traced around a spool of thread to make the circles. Then I wrote “LEGO” inside each circle. I used double-fold binding to hold the garland together, and it’s now hanging on their wall! Here are some photos of that process:
I love that I was able to use my crafty skills and some cheap supplies to make the kids’ rooms look a little more cheerful!
