Fear plays such a huge role in building a business, because, well, it’s scary. (I’m not alone in this right??)
A while back, I was feeling a lot of anxiety and decided to write down what I was afraid of:
- I’m scared that no one will want what I’m making
- I’m scared that no one will want to pay for what I’m making
- I’m scared that I will look stupid
- I’m scared that people will think I don’t belong
I countered my feelings by adding “But …” to the end of all those sentences. For example,
I’m scared that no one will want what I’m making, BUT I’ve done a lot of research to come up with this problem (and solution). I believe deeply in the handmade, micro-business economy. In order for that economy to grow, sellers need to communicate their value to buyers effectively and create an unforgettable buying experience.
Now it’s your turn. I’ve put together a worksheet that will help you through this process. It also asks you to write out how you’re feeling and what you need to be doing (but aren’t).
